Vertical blinds differ from most other types of blinds in that they draw to the sides of the window, rather than the top. This allied to their lightness in weight, means that this type of blind can be supplied in much bigger sizes than other types of blind – typically up to 5 metres wide and 4 metres drop which makes them ideal for very large windows. Vertical blinds are made up a series of strips of fabric or louvres which hang from an aluminium headrail and are connected at the bottom with weights and a stabilising chain. Louvres are available in either 89mm (3.5”) or 127mm (5”) – 89mm is generally used for domestic windows and 127mm for commercial installations such as offices.
In addition, vertical blinds can be ‘split gathered’ which means that the louvres can be drawn to each side of the window 50/50 to prevent a large bulk of fabric at one side and keeping a pleasant symmetry to a window.
Vertical blinds come in a range of designs and colours so that they can either complement or contract your décor as you wish. In addition, fabrics are available with Fire Retardent properties and some can even be cleaned by machine washing for total simplicity.
To help you match to your décor, we offer free no obligation samples so that you can see, rather than visualise, how the different colours and patterns will appear - remember that computer screens may not reproduce colours exactly.
